What if this is the way to produce food in the future?

Farmland takes up 40% of our planet. Is there a method to use the land and produce food which is sustainable and environmentally friendly in the long term? This documentary on alternative sustainable agriculture shows that the “food forest” may present a way to achieve food self-sufficiency without destroying the fertility of the soil or losing contact with nature. Besides growing fruits and vegetables, it can involve animal husbandry as well. The oldest food forest in Belgium is 50 years old and thrives due to its ecosystem and the cohesion of the local community. Food production and nature do not need to be two mutually exclusive systems.
