Let There Be Water!
Can the Czech Republic leave its mark on EXPO and create a project that will help the world? Such an attempt was made in 2020 in Dubai by a team led by the Commissioner General for the Czech participation, Jiří František Potužník.
The documentary of Karel Žalud follows Potužník’s difficult journey along with seven other inventors of S.A.W.E.R. In the beginning, there was Potužník’s idea to recreate the Czech climate in the desert to irrigate it. This was the foundation for the scientists’ efforts to develop a system that could create oases by extracting water from the air, which faced constant time and financial constraints. This comprehensive documentary reflects on the events surrounding EXPO 2020 and the broader context of current water shortages, which is not just an issue of arid desert areas.
