Flocks of birds can make incredible patterns in the air. During the migration to their wintering sites, birds can cross thousands of kilometres. They risk their lives to escape the severe cold that holds grasp over the northern parts of Europe from autumn to spring.

This wildlife documentary full of captivating footage follows the preparations of several wild bird species for their great adventure. With the coming of winter, these birds make a long and perilous journey over half of the world every year. The documentary follows a flock of birds travelling from northern Finland down south. Their winter refuge is the Iberian Peninsula, providing an abundance of sustenance and suitable nesting conditions. This is temporarily until they set off on their return journey in the spring.
