GORILLAS UNDER STRESS

GORILLAS UNDER STRESS

Despite their rising numbers, the mountain gorillas are far from safe. Their natural habitat has been taken over by people, and these gorillas have nowhere to expand. However, scientists and conservationists are not giving up and continue the legacy of Dian Fossey.

These muscular vegetarians belong to the only species of apes that thrives. Their growing population has even managed to get them from the “critically endangered” to “endangered” species list. But the environment in which they live no longer belongs to them but to humans. The wilderness is slowly becoming a delimited wild zoo, where restless gorillas from different families meet, tempers rise, and aggression ensues, leading to the murder of young cubs. This deteriorating situation could lead to a point when their numbers start stagnating once more.
