Katia and Maurice Krafft loved volcanoes and each other. As volcanologists, they believed science needs to be done hands-on, even at the cost of their own lives. Director Sara Dosa reconstructs the story of their marriage and obsession with volcanoes solely on their archive of 16mm films that take the viewers dangerously close to forces of nature. The resulting documentary is a captivating spectacle showing unique work with archival materials, music and poetics, which asks the fundamental question: What are we willing to sacrifice for love and science?
