In 2000, one of the key representatives of the French New Wave, Agnès Varda, made the film The Gleaners & I. After 20 years, we get a documentary that adds urgent ecological appeal to the complex microcosm of gleaners.

It’s unbelievable what you can find on beaches around the world. The beachcombers who search the coastline for hidden treasures put things into perspective and bring attention to the pollution of our planet’s seas and oceans. This pollution has become increasingly difficult to ignore. This Finnish documentary takes viewers on a trip around the world where they get to know a number of gleaners and their motivations. The dynamic camera follows their beach adventures closely in contrast with the static shots of their discoveries, the amount and composition of which will give you shivers.
