In the world of science and research, unexpected symbioses are emerging. How can tick tactics benefit us?

We perceive ticks as a threat. They carry horrific diseases. But what if they can be useful? This documentary shows these seemingly repulsive creatures in a slightly different light.
Radek Šíma, PhD, conducts research at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology of Ticks at the Institute of Parasitology of the CAS and the Bioptics Laboratory in Pilsen. The parasitologist takes us behind the curtain of the research process and illustrates the possibilities of using ticks in pharmacology. Specific substances in their organism can prevent blood clotting and thus this dreaded insect could be the key to the production of a drug that will make life easier for many people.

The film was made as part of a film workshop at the Prague Science Film Fest with the aim of learning methods of audiovisual popularization of science.
