About festival

Each year, we present a competitive selection of the best contemporary science documentaries from around the world. We keep our finger on the pulse of the genre and contemporary filmmaking, bringing Czech premieres and films you won’t find anywhere else to university audiences. Screenings are accompanied by introductions and discussions with guests, filmmakers and researchers from the Czech Republic and abroad. Awards in the amount of CZK 50,000 are presented by two juries – the main jury and the student jury – with the audience also getting a chance to choose their favorite through the Audience Award.

The film program is complemented by a non-competitive showcase of thematically curated films, as well as original productions by ČZU. We also organize screenings for schools and open-air screenings that bring the heart of the campus to life, as well as lectures, hands-on filmmaking workshops, science stand-up performances and VR experiences.

The festival welcomes international audiences and strives to make as many screenings as possible accessible to everyone. Screenings and events marked with the English flag are English-friendly and can be enjoyed without any knowledge of Czech.
