Steen Rasmussen / Artificial life: Physics and chemistry of the creative forces in nature
In this seminar we’ll focus on the nature of living processes and on why and how nonliving materials can become alive. I will argue how life and intelligence are both related and different from each other and we’ll review examples of minimal living processes based on wet carbon chemistry, based on robotics, as well as discuss minimal living processes in cyberspace. Finally, I’ll discuss why it becomes more important for us to understand the nature of the creative forces in nature, because they increasingly impact what means to be human.
