The North Atlantic right whale is one of the most endangered whale species. Therefore, conservationists are trying to introduce certain measures which, in turn, make the life of local fishing communities harder. Who can we then afford to endanger, the whales, or people?

The east coast of the USA deals with a problem which is becoming increasingly more topical in other parts of the world – the coexistence of man and nature. How can we save a species without endangering the livelihood and heritage of people contributing to its decline? Environmentalists, fishermen, and scientists attempt to answer this difficult question in this Jackson Hole Festival winning documentary. Amended legislation or new technologies may hold the solutions. However, until then, one species in the Atlantic Ocean will be dying a slow and painful death.
